Saddle peak is well known for its highest peak in North Andaman Island which is 731 m, it is the highest point of the archipelago in the Bay of Bengal gives a wonderful aerial view. We have also been addressed while mentioned about Alfred caves. The place is surrounded by Saddle Peak National Park and located near Diglipur. The National park famous for its rare, unique and endangered species of flora and fauna. Also, the steps made from old trees give the trekking experience very natural to the visitors who climb with the surrounding thick and lush tropical rainforest.

To enter inside, the permits should be taken from the Forest Department Office opposite the entrance of the park at the trailhead for some nominal cost. If you make a plan on our platform, we will be taking care of all the permits and permission required to explore the island.

To experience real big trekking, one must have a lot of courage and energy to reach the mighty Saddle peak. Also, should be mentally and physically prepared to conquer the peak.

Trekking to Saddle Peak

We have really started very early to reach the peak and come back because of the early sunset which is around 5 PM and also the forest department suggests reaching the base before 4:30 PM to ensure the safety guidelines. There will be a taxi which takes you to the base of the mountain from where you need to start the journey. The trek will take you to the stream about 2 hours from the base which will look quite easy with nature pleasing surrounding in the tropical forest. But the real journey starts only after you cross the stream.

You will also get a guide to explore the places while on the track and also help you stick on the right track. There are many huts and benches placed for trekkers to rest while taking a hike to the Peak. Let us know if you need a help of a local guide during the trek, especially if one is not familiar with the path because they have to be booked in advance. After few hours of walk, you will be able to witness a picture-perfect view from the top of the hill which will be breath-taking. Huge trees, water bodies, and chirping birds motivate you to reach the peak with their charming nature surroundings.

On the track, you will be able to see some of the rare species of trees, fruits and birds all over the dense nature-rich forest even for many beginners, it will be a memorable and valuable experience from base to top which is around 10 to 12 km. Totally about 10 hours of time to complete the trek. Some people with family and short of time can experience the shorter trek. You can visit the stream have a bath and comes back within 3 hours.

Things to keep in Mind

Avoid wearing loose clothes and maintain some light cloth which are comfortable.
To maintain the place keep clean and neat, please don’t carry any bio-degradable wastes, plastic materials and wrappers. Support the administration and scenic nature.
Wear comfortable shoes and watch out for any thrones or insects going by the way.
Carry enough food, water and snacks to stay healthy throughout the treak. Also, the Hats and sunglasses would really help in the sunny season.
