Yeratta Creek

Yeratta is located 8 Kilometers away from Rangat. It has abundant mangrove life. The harbour of Rangat is in Yerrata and is known as the Yerrata Jetty. It is a great spot to observe and study a diverse variety of mangroves. As an initiative towards creating awareness among the general public and tourists about mangroves, department of Environment and Forests has established a Mangrove Interpretation Centre which has attractive display panels depicting various species of mangroves found in these islands.

There is a mangrove view watchtower erected in Yeratta which provides a panoramic view of the mangroves and the adjacent tropical forests from the top of it. This 13-meter long tower is the only one of its kind in the entire A & N Islands which provides such a view of the mangroves. Though during our last visit, this tower was not in good shape. Hoping to see this getting renovated soon.
